The incident, which was reported shortly before 1 a.m., occurred at Zion’s Gate RV Resort located at 150 N. 3700 West.

According to a Hurricane Valley Fire District news release sent Tuesday morning, firefighters were initially dispatched at 12:58 a.m. to a report of a structure fire.

“Prior to arrival, crews were notified that there were five individuals inside of the home,” the news release states, adding, “The first unit arrived on scene; they discovered a RV style trailer that was fully involved with significant exposures in close proximity.”

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, the release added, noting that the cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.

“The five individuals who were inside of the structure were located on the street outside of the structure, and several of them had life-threatening injuries,” the statement said. “All patients were immediately treated and transported to St. George Regional Medical Center by ambulance.”

Due to the extent of their injuries, three of the patients were later flown via helicopter to Las Vegas for further treatment.

“The Hurricane Valley Fire District sends their thoughts and prayers to the patients and their family,” the statement adds.

In addition to Hurricane Valley Fire District crews, personnel from Hurricane City Police Department, Hildale-Colorado City Fire Department, and the Washington County Sheriffs Office also responded and provided assistance.
