ST. GEORGE — Lexie Kite and Lindsay Kite, PhDs in the study of media and body image, will offer the opening keynote address at the “Stronger Together – Protecting Children and Families from Pornography” conference on Sept. 19 at the Dixie Convention Center, 1835 S. In addition, many organizations will sponsor resource booths on technology, recovery, community action, and prevention. Registration and more information is online at utahcoalition.org.
The conference is designed to help leaders and families feel more confident and effective helping others to live happier lives free from pornography by providing solutions and support. Past conference attendees report that they gained the know-how to help loved ones who suffer from an addiction to pornography, and to be more open teaching young people.
“Pornography causes such a disruption in people’s lives,” Pamela Atkinson, chair of the Utah Coalition Against Pornography said.
Vauna Davis, the coalition’s Executive Director, said pornography is a critical social issue facing all families and all church and community leaders.
“The most important steps toward change are becoming educated and learning to talk to your family, then speaking up in your community,” Davis said.
