Rotary donates to Family Support Center

ST. GEORGE – In the name of Sharlet Heitkotter, members of the Rotary Club of St. George donated nearly $500 to the Family Support Center at the local service club’s regular Monday luncheon meeting in mid-May.

Heitkotter, who passed away in early December, was a longtime Rotarian and a strong supporter of the local nonprofit children’s crisis and respite care nursery.

“She wasn’t easy on us,” Chris Nelson, Family Support Center director, said about her organization’s former chairman of the board. “But she was our biggest cheerleader and brought balance to our organization, always making certain we kept our finances in order and paid attention to the smallest details of our operations.”

The funds raised during the club’s weekly Horseplay fundraising activity will help pay for drop-in childcare services for families in crisis, Roger Nelson said as he accepted the donation.

Rotary is an organization of approximately 1.2 million business, professional and community leaders in 34,000 Rotary clubs in 160 countries worldwide who provide humanitarian service, including the eradication of polio; encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

St. George Rotary Club meets each Monday at 12:15 p.m. at the Best Western Abbey Inn. For more information about service activities in the local community call 435-632-1725.
