New volleyball club in Cedar City

CEDAR CITY – We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Red Desert Volleyball Club.

Volleyball clubs are established to give the kids who love this sport the opportunity to play in the off-season of high school and middle school and to continue progressing and understanding the game. There is a fee to play but your money will be used for coaching fees, gym rental fees, equipment used and tournament fees for travel teams. The season runs from January through the end of May. We will practice two times a week, usually two hours each practice, and travel teams will go to four tournaments.

Tryout dates for middle school volleyball players will be on Oct. 28 and 29 from 6-8 p.m. at the Cedar High School Auxiliary Gym. There is a $25 nonrefundable fee for tryouts.

The tryout dates for the high school age girls will be announced later this week, so please check back often.

Please come dressed in proper athletic attire. If you are going to wear a shirt with cut-off sleeves, it may not show your sports bra. Please no tank tops. If you wear spandex shorts, please keep them modest.

There will be more times to practice after the tryouts are over and before the season starts. Those times will be announced.

The cost for the whole season will depend on the number of girls joining overall. At this time, the tentative price for making a club team is anywhere from $750 to $1,500. If you are on a high school traveling team, expect to pay at the higher end. But please do not let that deter you from trying out. We have very flexible payment options and you can start making payments now.

The gym we will be using once the season starts is being built by the Southern Utah Sports Academy and their website is southernutahsportsacademy.com.
