Glen Jay Gubler

July 8, 2024-Aug. 21, 1933

Glen Jay Gubler, 90, of St. George, Utah, passed away July 8, 2024. He was born in St. George, Utah, Aug. 21, 1933, to Emil and Nellie McArthur Gubler. He grew up in Santa Clara, Utah, and was the third of 12 children.

Glen asked Rachel Lytle to marry him on her 18th birthday. They were married April 11, 1953, in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent over 70 wonderful years together.

Shortly after their marriage, Glen was called to serve in the Great Lakes Mission, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Ohio and Indiana. They were separated for two years.

After his mission, Glen served two years in the U.S. Army with Rachel joining him in Oklahoma and California. They returned to Utah to finish his degree in accounting from the University of Utah.

They landed in Las Vegas, where they raised their six children. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He lived Christ’s admonition in Matthew 22:37-39. He loved God and his neighbor. He worked with Scouts, he served in the Sunday School and in the Young Men organization, he taught primary children, he served as a bishop, high counselor and even in the nursery. He regularly shared excess with his neighbors and those in need, blessing many. He was very frugal and careful with his spending, but quietly generous to those in need. He not only served others but supported his wife in her service. They were true partners.

They returned to St. George in 1997 to care for their aging parents. After their parents passed away, they served a full-time mission to the Manila Philippines Temple and then served another mission in Lusaka, Zambia. They also served as ordinance workers in the St. George Temple for many years.

Glen left a legacy of love. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they love him. Family was everything to him. Babies and young children always brought a smile to his face. He talked to and connected with people everywhere he went.

Glen is survived by his children Alan and Donna Gubler of Ruth, Nevada; Angela Gubler of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kristin and Ward Marshall of St. George, Utah; Jonathan and Lisa Gubler of Diamond Valley, Utah; Kalin and James Skousen of Orem, Uta; Melissa and Brian Dabb of Orem, Utah; 30 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his dear wife Rachel, parents Emil and Nellie McArthur Gubler and his sons Brantley George Gubler and Nathan Jay Gubler.
