James (Jim) Houskeeper

Nov. 24, 1940-June 21, 2024

Jim Houskeeper was born to James Furless Houskeeeper and Carma Tippits Houskeeper on Nov. 24, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died June 21, 2024, at home in Hurricane. Jim’s siblings are Janine, F. Junior, Patsy Larue and Jetta Mae.

Growing up Jim lived in Taylorsville and Sugar House, in Salt Lake County. He was a graduate of South High School in 1959. He served an LDS mission to New Zealand in 1960-61. He took college courses and worked in various professions, including maintenance at LDS Hospital, Salt Lake Water District, Utah State Highway Department and the Utah Pipe Trades. As a pipe-fitter, he worked on all the Utah Power Houses, the Olympic Village, the Park City Luge, the Provo City Library and Micron. Jim also served in the Army Reserves.

In 1965, Jim married Kathleen Parker in the Salt Lake Temple. They had four children and later divorced. In 1995, Jim married Barbara J. Silcox H. Snow in the Provo Temple. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. They served an LDS Mission in Willows, California, in 2001-02. Jim was very good with his hands and re-modeled all the homes they lived in. He served in various church capacities throughout his life and was faithful and devoted to the Lord.

Jim was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, uncle and stepfather. He was a friend to everyone. He was greatly loved by his immediate family, his stepchildren and grandchildren and extended family. 

He is preceded in death by his son Shane and granddaughter Jennie. 

He is survived by his wife Barbara, his sister Jetta (Bill) Sims and children Suzette (Brent) Caldwell, Trichelle (Donovan) Hart and Trenton Houskeeper. 

We miss you and will forever love you, our dear Jim.
