Snow Canyon put up a flurry of goals at home in a win over Hurricane Friday night.

Meanwhile, Dixie got knocked off at Desert Hills after the Thunder avenged an early-season defeat and upended the Flyers.

Those results left Snow Canyon and Dixie tied atop Region 9 at 8-2.

Crimson Cliffs (8-3) and Desert Hills (6-4) are still both in the hunt with one week of play remaining.

The Warriors and Flyers play each other in the final game of the regular season, May 3, at Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m.

Statewide, the current 4A Ratings Percentage Index numbers (RPI) don’t include a single team from Region 9 in the top five. Layton Christian Academy (11-1-0) is the No. 1 team in 4A.

Snow Canyon 8, Hurricane 0

The Warriors struck for five goals in the first half and then tallied three more in the second, rolling to the win on a windy night at Snow Canyon.

Ryan Smith and Easton Lott both scored twice for Crimson while Jona Melo, Hinckley Heaton and Seth Bateman each netted a goal in the victory.

Kaden Guerra accounted for Cedar’s only tally in the second half.

The Mustangs have won back-to-back matches and four of their last five. They’ve outscored their opposition 21-5 in those games.

Crimson has one game remaining, a pivotal matchup in Washington Fields against Snow Canyon, Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Desert Hills 3, Dixie 1

The Thunder grounded the Flyers in the first half, netting three markers and making Dixie play catch-up for the rest of the way.

The setback snapped a six game winning streak for Dixie and earned a little payback for Desert Hills, which lost 4-1 to the Flyers at Dixie earlier in the season.

C.J. Westhoff, Noah Nield and Cai Klomp were credited with the goals for Desert Hills in the win.

Karson Clark recorded two assists and Dillon Bingham had a solo assist for the winners.

Desert Hills next plays at Pine View, Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Iker Meza scored Dixie’s one goal in the second half, converting an assist from James Porter. Meza has a total of 12 goals and 14 assists so far this year.
