ST. GEORGE – Pressing the gas pedal by mistake resulted in an SUV colliding with house on Ridgeview Drive Monday evening.
Around 8:30 p.m., the driver of an SUV that was driving down Saddle Drive toward Ridgeview Drive mistook the gas pedal for the brake pedal when approaching the street corner, St. George Police officer Jonathan McInnes said.
Pressing on the gas resulted in the SUV jumping the curb, running through rocks and grass in the yard, then across the driveway of the home on the corner as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The SUV slid in front of the home, hit the front of it and “bounced off” the home and came to a stop directly in front of it, McInnes said.
The driver suffered a cut above the eye, McInnes said, but there were no injuries reported by a passenger in the SUV.
The driver was taken taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
The residence involved in the incident did not appear to have experienced any major structural damage.
