ST. GEORGE — With more than 60 years of unique experiences lived by two generations, lead singer Merrill Osmond and his son Justin Osmond will share their empowering journey of self-discovery in a presentation titled “Sound Advice” as part of Dixie State University’s weekly Dixie Forum lecture series on Tuesday at noon at the Dunford Auditorium.

By incorporating their knowledge of music and sharing inspirational advice, the Osmonds will help audience members take their business and personal lives to the next level. They will delve into their diverse life experiences to prove everyone is capable of overcoming their fears, discovering their inner strengths, maintaining a positive outlook and achieving their full potential.

Recognized for his contributions as the lead singer for the Osmond family, Merrill Osmond has sung lead on 27 gold records and written and produced the music and lyrics for five No. 1 hit records. Aside from producing music, he has been heavily involved with show business, from producing the “Donny & Marie” show to President Ronald Reagan’s inauguration and President George Bush’s Inaugural Ball. This year, he is celebrating his 60th year in show business and continues to be involved in producing new music, touring both solo and with his brothers across the world.

For son Justin Osmond, despite being told he would never play a musical instrument due to severe hearing loss, patience and determination proved he would become a musician like his father. Knowing firsthand what it is like to live in a world without sound, his book “Hearing with my Heart” examines the struggles of living with challenges and how to overcome them.

Dixie Forum is a weekly lecture series designed to introduce the St. George and DSU communities to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews via a 50-minute presentation. The next installment of Dixie Forum will feature a behind-the-scenes look into the Docutah film “Bombshell” at noon on Sept. 4 in the Dunford Auditorium.
