Three high school rodeo stars win events at state finals

ST. GEORGE — Three Southern Utah high school rodeo competitors took top honors in last weekend’s Utah High School Rodeo championships in Park City.

Kannarraville’s McKenna Coronado placed in four events — first in girls cutting, second in barrel racing, third in breakaway roping and fourth in pole bending.

Two others won their events. Kaytlyn Miller of Enterprise won the goat-tying event for the fourth year in a row and Milford’s Stetson Wright repeated as saddle bronc champion.

They will advance to the national rodeo finals July 15 in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Also qualifying for the finals were Zeke Holcomb of Dixie, third in bareback; Jolynn Holt of Enterprise, third in pole bending; Amy Mason of Enterprise, fourth in goat tying; Curry Wilkins and Emily Vigoren of Dixie, third and fourth in rifle shoot; Kash Cattoor of Cedar City, fourth in steer wrestling and Qade Adams of Cedar City, third in trap shoot.
