ST. GEORGE — Findlay Automotive of Utah sponsored its eighth annual charity golf tournament June 1 at The Ledges Golf Club, raising $14,000 for Washington County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue volunteers.

A total of 27 teams participated in the tournament, organizers said, with the top three finishing teams as follows: Big Leap 1 placed first, Air Car Pros were second and the Becker Team was third.

Individual competitions were held for longest drive, with Victor Gonzalez winning the men’s event and Nicole Brinkerhoff winning the women’s. In the closest-to-the-pin contest, Robert Halladay was the men’s winner, while Jodi White took top female honors.

A lunchtime auction and raffle with more than 200 prizes was also held to help generate additional money for search and rescue. Donated items included airline tickets from SkyWest, a Fender guitar from Bald Eagle Distributing and various other prizes.

The community is invited to join Findlay Automotive June 21 at 11 a.m. at the dealership as the donation is formally presented to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Washington County had 102 search and rescue events during 2017. The Search and Rescue department has a small budget, but most equipment and tools are contributed by the volunteers that make up the team. Donations are a great way to help the organization purchase and properly maintain much-needed equipment.

Findlay Automotive has raised more than $70,000 for Washington County Search and Rescue over the past eight years.
