HURRICANE — Stunning sandstone landscapes and awe-inspiring mountain views await visiting and local athletes alike at the ninth annual “Kokopelli Tri-Du-Run-Kids” slated for Saturday at 7 a.m. at Sand Hollow State Park. Registration for the day’s events is still open.

The family-friendly event is put on by BBSC Endurance Sports and includes an Olympic and Sprint Triathlon, Duathlon, Kids Tri, and 5K/10K Run. The event is expected to attract approximately 700 athletes, with nearly 85 percent from outside Washington County, said Cedric Keppler, CEO and race director of BBSC.

“The event can be labeled an endurance festival,” Keppler said. “Not only does it attract athletes from surrounding states, but it also brings together the local community for one amazing day at Sand Hollow State Park.”

Packet pickup begins Friday and will go from 3-7:30 p.m. at the Hurricane Community Center at 63 S. 100 West in Hurricane. Race-day packet pickup will be in the Sand Hollow parking lot near the finish line area. Those who choose race-day pickup are charged an additional $10.

Entry fees vary. Please see the BBSC website for details.
