Our beloved Sherrie Lyn Fugate, 55, of St. George, passed away June 28, 2016, and awoke in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born to Ralph and Evelyn Fugate, April 3, 1961, in Payson, Utah, the youngest of four children. Sherrie attended Oakridge School and lived at Deseret Village in Spanish Fork for 20 years before relocating to St. George.
Sherrie was taken from us after a battle with esophageal cancer. She fought bravely until the end, knowing how much she was needed here.
Sherrie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, The Special Olympics, and Special Needs Mutual. She loved Diet Coke, country music, Rachael Ray, reading magazines, and controlling the remote. Whenever she had the chance, Sherrie would talk about her love of Disneyland, the lives of her family and friends and what was good on TV that day. Sherrie was feisty at times, but always with the aim to be helpful. Going forward, Christmas will not be the same without the family’s annual competition to see whose gift would win Sherrie’s biggest smile.
Sherrie is survived by her parents, Ralph and Evelyn Fugate of St. George, and her siblings, Karen (Bruce) Nell of Washington; Pamela (Larry) Wilkins of Alpine; and Richard (Teresa) Fugate of Sandy.
She is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made out to Danville Services of Utah, Southern Region or Turn Community Services, the communities that lovingly helped take care of Sherrie.
Funeral Services
- Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday July 2, 2016, from 11- 11:45 a.m. prior to the Celebration of Sherrie’s life at the Sunset LDS 10th Ward 415 Westridge Drive, St. George, Utah.
- Interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday July 9, 2016, at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, Utah.
