ST. GEORGE – After sifting though over 60 cities over the last few weeks, an online poll asking which city is the “best city” in Utah has boiled down to two contenders: St. George and Park City

Hosted by KSL.com, the poll started with 68 cities and also featured Hurricane and Washington cities. Hurricane and St. George went toe-to-toe in their bracket, with St. George leading 60 percent of the vote to Hurricane’s 40 percent. With the win, St. George has moved on to face Park City.

In Park City’s bracket, Washington City was beat out by Mapleton, which led with 55 percent of the vote. Mapleton was in turn defeated by Park City which garnered 54 percent of the overall vote and now faces off with St. George.

St. George Mayor Jon Pike told St. George News Friday it is fun to have these kinds of contests once in a while.

“Park City Mayor Jack Thomas is a great guy and a good friend of mine,” Pike said.

“I consider it an honor to be competing with Mayor Thomas and Park City, because we’re both resort-type communities and have incredibly beautiful scenery all around us,” he said. “Both of us also have citizens who are friendly and welcome the world to our cities!”

Voting can be done via original article on KSL.com and goes until midnight Sunday. The winner will be announced Monday by KSL. The bracket breakdown can also be seen on the KSL website.

“This is completely subjective and fun poll. Although one city will be named the ‘best,’ we think all cities in Utah are wonderful and add to this great state,” the KSL article reads. “How you come to decide upon the best city is entirely up to you. Share the poll and help your selected city win it all.”
