CEDAR CITY – Southern Utah University will be hosting its first-ever Pro Day on Mar. 30, giving hometown stars a chance to show off what they can do in hopes of raising their stock for the upcoming NFL Draft.

SUU’s James Cowser, Miles Killebrew and LeShaun Sims are all coming off performances at the NFL Combine, where they were able to show what they could do in front of all 32 NFL teams, as well as the nation as the combine was televised on the NFL Network.

Dixie State senior linebacker Robert Metz will also participate in the event.

Cowser said he is looking forward to being able to be back on the field at Eccles Coliseum.

“We’re super excited,” he said. “It’s fun to have the Pro Day for the first time ever here. We’re excited to show what we can do for the scouts and just put our best foot forward.”

Killebrew went on to say that the event will be big not only for the players involved, but those that come out and support as well.

“It’s huge for the community to see that SUU is putting guys on the map and is successful at producing high caliber athletes,” he said.

Sims said he felt like he was able to do a lot of positive things at the NFL Combine, but there are still some things he would like to continue to improve on leading up to Pro Day.

“There’s some things I want to clean up,” he said. “I want to run better, run faster obviously. In positional drills as well, I was just anticipating a little too much, stuff I’ll clean up on the 30th.”

Being able to go through the process together was something that Cowser said helped all three of them greatly through the past couple months.

“It’s been invaluable,” he said. “To have two of my good friends, two people that I know are going to work extremely hard, that have my best interests at heart just as much as they do theirs is great. They’ve been pushing me, hopefully I’ve been pushing them.”

SUU’s Pro Day is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Desert Hills High School on Wednesday, Mar. 30. The event is open for fans and spectators.
