ST. GEORGE – Playing up a classification for the second straight day, Dixie struggled offensively and fell to Alta 4-0 in boys’ soccer on Friday.

Seth Lowry got the Hawks on the scoreboard less than three minutes into the game and Mitch Fisher had one of his two goals less than a minute into the second half.

“We gave up a couple of stupid goals,” noted Dixie coach Burt Myers. “But, things are fixable. That’s a very talented team we went against.”

Zach Maas had Alta’s other goal. Chandler Syrett had the shutout in goal.

Dixie had a few scoring opportunities. Syrett punched one shot over the crossbar with about 11 minutes left in the first half and Tyler Bennett’s cross sailed over the goal with two minutes left in that period.

Myles Keenan had a shot sail over the goal in the late going and Bennett had another shot blocked near the goal mouth.

“Jorge Bernabe played his guts out,” Myers said in praise of his sophomore midfielder. “I am so excited for him. If we can get the rest of them playing like that, we’ll be O.K.”

Dixie entertains Summit Academy at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday.

Desert Hills 7, Spanish Fork 1
Desert Hills 8, Summit Academy 0

Desert Hills continued its offensive assault with wins over Spanish Fork and Summit Academy on Friday. Against the Dons, Hunter Spray had a hat trick with three goals in the first half. Bridger Nelson and Kelton Holt also had first-half goals as the Thunder led 5-0 at the break.

Christian Cottle and Kanon Heaton had the second-half goals.

“Brenan Stewart and Parker Thompson are the men directing the back,” noted Thunder coach Benji Nelson. “We have only allowed three shots on goal in three games. We are passing and possessing the ball 60-70 percent of each game.”

Heaton had two of his three goals in the first two minutes of play as the Thunder rolled over Summit Academy. He also had two assists.

“We have lots of players who are capable of scoring goals,” Nelson said. “We have a strong bench,”

The Thunder led 5-0 at the half and ended the game early on the mercy rule.

Bryce Habel had the shutout in goal, his second in three games. Nelson had a goal and an assist while Spray, Rocky Bunker, Beau Banielos and Trevor Lindstrom each added a goal.

The Thunder dominated throughout and didn’t even give up a shot on goal.

On Saturday, Desert Hills will play Box Elder.

Maple Mountain 4, Pine View 0

Ian Stonehocker had two goals to lead the Golden Eagles past the Panthers. Tyler Lloyd and Keaton Tippets added the other goals. Spencer Young had the shutout in goal.

The Panthers will play Alta at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Snow Canyon 7, Summit Academy 1

The Warriors improved to 1-1 on the season with the easy win at home.

Angel Muniz scored three goals — a hat trick — to lead the way for SC. Snow Canyon also got goals from Cameron Morris, Dillon Hargis, kaden Wittwer and Richard Nino. SC led 5-0 at halftime.

The Warriors host Lehi at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
