ST. GEORGE — A woman driving in a St. George residential neighborhood Sunday night lost control of her truck, causing the truck to jump a curb and smash into a cement wall in front of someone’s home.
At 10:30 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of 400 East and 300 South, St. George Police Sgt. Spencer Holmes said.
A 24-year-old woman, driving a white 1999 Dodge Dakota truck, was southbound on 400 East, Holmes said. As she made a left-hand turn onto 300 South to head east, the woman lost control of the truck, possibly overcorrected, Holmes said, went over a sidewalk and crashed into a cement wall.
The truck flipped around and came to rest facing southwest – nearly opposite the direction the woman had been traveling.
People in nearby homes heard the crash and called police, Holmes said. The force of the collision caused the airbags in the truck to deploy.
The driver, who was wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision, was seen by paramedics at the scene, Holmes said, but refused transport to the hospital.
“The accident is under investigation,” Holmes said. “We checked for impairment and distractions and were unable to prove the cause of the accident.”
As this report is published, no citations had been issued.
The Dodge Dakota was towed from the scene.
St. George Police and Fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the crash.
