HURRICANE – A Buck’s Ace Hardware employee was taken to the hospital Wednesday after he fell off the roof of the Hurricane business and sustained head injuries.
At about 4 p.m., Hurricane Valley Fire SSD responders were dispatched to Buck’s Ace Hardware on reports that an employee had fallen from the roof.
The man, an employee of the hardware store who is approximately in his 20s, Fire Capt. Nick Wright said, was up on a ladder when the incident occurred. Wright said he doesn’t how far the man fell, but he fell backward and hit his head.
“He doesn’t remember falling, doesn’t remember what he was doing,” Wright said.
The man sustained a laceration to the back of his head and was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George by Hurricane Valley Fire SSD.
Wright did not know the man’s current condition as this report is published, but he said the injuries did not appear severe at the scene.
“Just a laceration and just kind of a goose egg, a bump on the back of the head,” Wright said.
Management on duty at Buck’s Ace Hardware declined to comment about the incident.

Who’s in charge of the stores safety program? The store should have a policy in place to prevent accidents like this so employees don’t needlessly get hurt or die.
Ya, ya, blame the entity rather than the person who made the choice. Psshht! That’s all we need, more entities babysitting us so we don’t have to think for ourselves.
I’m sure the store has plenty of policies and safety first rules. That doesn’t mean accidents don’t happen.
If you want to get hosed on a firearm, shop at Buck’s Ace in St. George. He probably fell on purpose because he was getting transferred over here to St. George. Now he won’t have to go.
Actually, the St. George store is Hurst’s not Buck’s (related but independently owned and not connected)…I work for Buck and we do have a much better selection and prices for firearms…come see me…of course after reading your comment I told Buck if he tried to transfer me I was jumping too!
“man falls off ladder. bumps head” ………… hokey, down home sorta news at its best…
Wow. Wal Mart has a better safety record than that !
