(January 18, 1933 – April 26, 2015)

Joan Emma Stucki Truman returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on April 26, 2015, in St. George, Utah.  Joan was born on January 18, 1933, in St. George, Utah, to Rulon Stucki and Vera Grace Staheli Stucki. She married James A. Truman of Enterprise, Utah, on May 25, 1951, in Santa Clara, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized later in the St. George Temple.

Joan and Jim lived in Enterprise until 1963 when they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they lived for the next 35 years. She and Jim returned to Southern Utah about 17 years ago to live in Washington City, Utah.

Joan is survived by her husband of 63 years, James A. Truman; Her brothers Max (Theressa), Kay (ElLouise) and Brent (Linda) Stucki.  Her children are Kenneth (June) Truman, LuAnn (Vince) Terry, Ronald (Wendy) Truman and Lisa (Larry) Gorham. Joan has 24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was a very loving and giving person. She loved her husband and children: they were her whole purpose for living.  She was an amazing example of Christ like charity and compassion.  She was a stay at home mom who made breakfast before seminary and when her children came home from school she greeted them with food and a loving smile.

Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved to decorate, bake and more importantly buy everything she could for the grandkids. Packages would fill the living room, almost out the door. She loved to bake and was always baking bread and sharing it with neighbors and anyone who dropped by for a visit.

Joan loved the UNLV Running Rebels. She and Jim always had season tickets and went to every game. She would get so excited watching the games that she would jump up and down and yell at the refs.  Joan and Jim spent many years camping, hunting and fishing with the kids and grandchildren, having the greatest time together.  She and Jim loved to travel the U.S., with trailer in tow, seeing the sights. She loved to bowl and belonged to a Women’s League for many years.

After she had raised her children, Joan went to work in the cafeteria at Bonanza High School. The older grandchildren loved it because they often got special attention during their lunch breaks, including some extra food. Joan and Jim also enjoyed doing sealing work at the Las Vegas temple.

Joan’s passing leaves a huge void in our lives and will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services

• Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. at the Washington Fields 7th LDS Ward Building, located at 1295 S. 3000 East, St. George.
• A viewing will be held Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel.
• Internment will be in the Enterprise Utah Cemetery.
