KANAB — Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is receiving applications for its “Artist-in-Residence” program, which is designed to publicly share the beauty and stories of national conservation lands through art.
The program provides artistic and educational opportunities to promote a deeper understanding of, and dialogue about, the natural, cultural, and historic resources in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument; and the value of national conservation lands and their connections to local communities.
The residencies allow uninterrupted time in a stimulating and rugged environment for artists to pursue their work and share it with the public.
Grand Staircase and its community partner organizations offer two artist-in-residence opportunities each year:
- Photography artist-in-residence in May is hosted in Kanab with Amazing Earthfest
- Plein Air artist-in-residence in September is hosted in Escalante with the Escalante Canyons Art Festival
