CEDAR CITY – The St. George woman arrested and charged in connection with the Cedar City Texaco robbery which occurred early Friday morning is facing additional charges for drugs.
Victoria Elizabeth Fanton, 25, of St. George, was additionally charged Sunday with a second-degree felony for knowingly producing, dispensing or manufacturing a controlled substance; and a class B misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
These charges follow Fanton’s arrest in connection to the Texaco fuel and convenience store, 1075 W. 200 N. in Cedar City, robbery involving three people, where she was charged with a first-degree felony for aggravated robbery and a class B misdemeanor for theft.

“When she went in to be booked on the robbery,” Cedar City Police Lt. Darin Adams said, “as they did their search, they found some drug residue and drug paraphernalia.”
Fanton’s charges came after officers found her to be in possession of “drug residue,” a syringe and a scale during the booking process for the robbery, Adams said. He said the residue was tested and came back as being “nonnegative” for heroin.
A nonnegative result, Adams said, means that the substance is not found to be negative of the properties included in the controlled substance known as heroin. It is only called a positive test after the residue has been sent to a lab and determined to be consistent with all of the elements that make up the drug in question, he said.
These charges were not included in the initial booking, Adams said, because they didn’t want to wait until the new investigation was completed before charging her for the Texaco crime that she was already in custody for.
Adams said there is no way of knowing if the robbery had any connection to drugs at this time.
A $30,000 cash-only bail has been set for Fanton’s release pending trial for her drug related and robbery charges. As of 1 p.m. Monday, Fanton is still in custody at the Iron County Jail.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
