Letter to the Editor: Obama’s immigration order is legalized slavery

Stock image, St. George News

OPINION LETTER TO THE EDITOR  –  Last Thursday I called President Obama a rapist; because I believe alone, he “fathered” 5 million new dependents here in America; and all anyone could do was lay there and take it. Today, these people became legalized slaves, not citizens.

After Thursday’s announcement by Obama, I am also calling him the world’s biggest slave trader.   He contends he is doing this Executive Order to “keep families together,” to give them a fresh start, and to work towards something better. Even more incredulous, this action is to benefit America’s culture and productivity. Isn’t that what slave traders told themselves over 200 years ago?

Obama provided a list of “conditions” for all of these illegals to meet, in order to not be deported. First, who really believes illegal aliens are going to come out of the woodwork and turn themselves in? Second, if they do, who actually believes our current “government/workers” will do an adequate job processing them effectively? If that were possible, our old immigration system should have worked!!!

To be fair, I should offer an opposing better idea: 8 Steps – Without building a fence

  1. Enforce the current Constitutional laws already on the books
  2. Fine individuals/corporations who hire illegals
  3. Make it known illegals will be deported, fined, and possibly incarcerated immediately if caught (don’t go looking for them, just make it known it will happen if caught)
  4. Really offer substantial real assistance to Mexico, and other immigration countries, to build industry, infrastructure, and stability – (this is the key component – advertise its success here in America)
  5. Let these people have a chance in their own country/culture to survive and thrive, as they would in America
  6. Openly let them return without incident or incrimination to join their entire family; grandparents, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends
  7. Speed up the process of legal immigration applications – re-establish an effective legal system which worked for 200 years (no harder than establishing this “new” come-forward and be processed system!)
  8. After the above, Mr. President, develop a real plan to address those who did not choose to return to their own home country and be with all their family … those remaining will be the productive and successful families who have become solid American citizens … or the fragmented families totally dependent upon our welfare system.

In summation, Obama’s plan was bass-ackwards, and only encourages the current invasion. Instead, help these people where they were born and grew up; which would be the true humanitarian and compassionate course of action.

We don’t need five million, 10 million, or 20 million of the poorest, most uneducated, and largely desperate people coming here working for slave wages, paid under the table, and not contributing to America’s society (except as slave labor). It’s not compassionate to them, and not productive to America. It is, however, skyrocketing costs in education, health care, and entitlement programs … and it is NOT raising these individuals out of poverty.

I contend Obama is now the worst president in American history. He is raping our culture, and has brought back legalized slavery to our country. I’m sure wealthy corporations were secretly shouting for joy last night, after Obama’s immigration announcement … legalized slavery authorized by government!

It works so well in Mr. Whipple’s mind, so therefore it must be true.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to understand real economics, human nature, or very much at all about the actual immigrants who are coming here and who are succeeding in spite of an openly hostile environment full of nationalistic, ignorant, bigoted, overtly racist people — such as Mr. Whipple.

“Fine individuals/corporations who hire illegals” That is a very good idea for your city mayor, city council and state government to consider. Ask the landscaper city council guy how many landscaping businesses in St George employ illegals. Then ask him what the city is doing about it. That’s right. Nothing.

The Republican Congress serve the rich and are “raping” our culture, The Right wing hates Latinos and this is because of racism. They have polarized our country.

Dear addled letter writer: PLEASE tell the class how much it would cost to do what you want (either in direct raised taxation or cost of goods) and how YOUR ancestors came here.

  • Alex Phillips November 25, 2014 at 12:44 pm

… me. Why do you keep printing things like this?
Anyway, if we’re going to talk about legalized slavery, why not also talk about the uncomfortable reality of job outsourcing and sweatshop labor? I guess those are okay though, because rich white Americans don’t have to look the Chinese factory workers in the eye and see their suffering. It’s a little harder to ignore the costs of our economic system when you have to watch a Mexican immigrant litterally crawling in the muck to maintain your prizewinning suburban garden.

What sucks is the R party is even more welcoming to illegals. They talk tough on immigration, but when it comes down to it they do nothing but talk. Look how many illegals flooded into the country under the reign of Bush II. The wealthy who run this country benefit from masses of poor, desperate, uneducated people that will do almost any kind of work at rock bottom wages. So is Obama even really a liberal? well, he’s closer to Bush II than anything, so probably not, unless it comes to the gays getting “married”, then I guess he is.

    • Other acts of Amnesty November 25, 2014 at 1:04 pm

What would Reagan do? Sign an Amnesty Bill – 1986. What would Bush do? Sign an Amnesty bill without consent of Congress – 2004. What would Hatch do? Write the DREAM Act – 2001. What would Governor Herbert do? Sign an amnesty bill for Utah. Hear the Republicans applauding all those?

  • Leo November 25, 2014 at 12:59 pm

What the H*** is legal about an illegal immigrant?

    • Other acts of Amnesty November 25, 2014 at 1:42 pm

Ask Reagan, Bush, Hatch and Herbert that question. They all signed Amnesty bills for Illegals, and without Congress approval.

  • YRU Stupid? November 25, 2014 at 1:36 pm

After reading your letter, I call you an idiot who needs to look at the history of Amnesty through the course of the past several decades. Idiots like you choose to blame Obama for what your elected officials have allowed for decades. Idiot.
#2: Fine individuals/corporations who hire illegals – Address your city mayor and council with this idea. Spread it around the church congregation as well. You probably will find a lot of your church members in that boat of hiring illegals. Blame them, your city and your state.

Interesting that “Mr Whipple” isn’t a property owner in Washington County and isn’t registered to vote in the state of Utah! Something tells me letters to the editor aren’t vetted. Lastly, as humorous as this letter is I can only say please don’t squeeze the Charmin.

A person does not have to be a property owner to have a voice.

  • Notagain November 25, 2014 at 3:38 pm

What a bunch of dumb, I’m so pretty, citizens. Do you even know what a USA citizen is? I didn’t think so. Would a person (name your current nationally) who wants to be a citizen of the USA, apply at the front door, follow the instructions, get in line and wait their turn? Then pledge their loyalty to red- white & blue. There’s thousands of them. Just like your grandparents did. They were ‘Invited’, they came. Evaluated and were offered to stay. They stayed.
Being Democrats, Republicans had nothing to do with it. There’s nothing bigoted about the process Homey.

LOL, at first glance it appears that Joyce wrote this tirade… LOL

  • dancing infidel November 26, 2014 at 9:46 am

Have any of you bleeding hearts who are supportive of this immigration bill even BOTHERED to read the actual bill?? Didn’t think so. For if you would have bothered to read it, you would have found that it contains something that I’m sure even you Obama lovers would object to. Buried deep in the wording is a provision that GIVES the amount of $3000.00, yes that’s right, 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS per illegal immigrant to business owners and employers who hire an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT!!! yup…THAT’S your TAX DOLLARS that are going to go to the greedy business’s and employers who are willing to hire them. And many of you say it’s the Republicans who are the greedy employers who pay the less-than minimum wages to the illegals!! Last time I checked Obama is a DEMOCRAT!!! So say goodbye to your hard earned taxes going to the prospective employers. You Obama lovers are so bright…..you have to use umbrellas to shade you from the sun.

    • Visiting Anthropologist November 26, 2014 at 12:13 pm

The $3,000 has to do with insurance and is NOT a $3,000 payout to employers simply for hiring anybody at all as the right-wing media wants you to believe. Rather, it’s a $3,000 fine if employers don’t comply with the insurance issue. The right-wing media is skewing this for their own purposes. Did you read the text of Obama’s Executive Action, Dancer? I kinda doubt it.

    • The Rest Of The Story November 26, 2014 at 12:24 pm

Not true. It’s a credit for the fine a business would face if they hired newly legalized residents as full-timers but did not offer them medical insurance if it cost more than 9.5% of their pay. Many of them making minimum wage probably won’t be able to be covered for that. Citizens and other legal residents would be able to get coverage on state-exchanges, thanks to the ACA, except those covered under the DREAM ACT and now this Exec Order do not qualify for the state-run exchanges because the RACIST REPUBLICANS have insisted that they be excluded.

This creates a problem for employers who want to hire these people. If they are full-timers and the employer does not or cannot offer them insurance, the employer pays a fine of $3,000. The employer’s answer is to make them a part-timer. What do you think this will do? It will further stigmatize a class of people, keep them on the social safety nets and help perpetuate them in poverty. The $3,000 incentive is to offset the fine.

Meanwhile, the RACIST REPUBLICANS will continue to point fingers at Obama, and at Hispanics–and categorize them (along with blacks) as the roots of all the country’s evils

PS: You are an idiot. Keep watching FAUX News.

What are you, 12? Calling people idiots seems to be the big thing on these comment pages. “You’re stupid.” “You’re an idiot.” “No, you’re a stupid idiot.” Sounds like ten-year-olds on a playground. If you want to disagree with me or anybody else, do it. But keep the childish name-calling out of it.

        I don’t watch Fox news.

You should expect nothing more from those stupid idiots.

“actual bill??” There is no bill. It is an executive order.

  • Roy J November 26, 2014 at 3:41 pm

What really gets me here is suggestion #5. How exactly is the United States supposed to implent that? Also, setting aside for a moment how you may feel about the executive patriation of 4 million or so people actively living in the US, which is more correctly to be called slave labor, those with little to no legal rights or protections under the laws of the country in which they reside and work, or those entitled, at least on paper, to every right and protection of that country as a citizen?

    • Koolaid November 26, 2014 at 4:39 pm

The GOP/Conservative answer to your question on number 5 is, you put your right foot in. You put your right foot out. You put your right foot in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey and turn yourself around. That’s what it’s all about. See? That easy!

    • Roy J November 26, 2014 at 5:00 pm

Patriation not the word I was looking for. Action granting citizenship will have to do. Hem 🙂

Washington County Assessors office is Guilty of Abuse of Authority. We must
