‘The Jive Aces’ perform; DSU Celebrity Concert Series

ST. GEORGE — Dixie State University students and community members are invited to attend a concert by the United Kingdom’s No. 1 jive and swing band, and Britain’s Got Talent” stars The Jive Aces on Nov. 15 as part of the Celebrity Concert Series.

Renowned for their high-energy music and spectacular stage show, the band’s repertoire stretches from the timeless tunes of the swing era to the glitz of the “Rat Pack,” with a dash of rhythm and blues, swing and jazz.

At the Nov. 15 concert, top swing dancers from The Hollywood Hotshots will join The Jive Aces onstage.

The Jive Aces feature songs made famous by such greats as Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Bobby Darin, Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr. and Ella Fitzgerald – along with a selection of superb originals taken from their albums.

An incredibly in-demand sextet, the group has worked with John Travolta, Van Morrison, The Proclaimers, Keely Smith, Hayley Westenra and most recently played for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

The Jive Aces headlined and sold out the first-ever swing dance at the Royal Albert Hall and have brought the house down with their high-energy stage show at thousands of festivals, theaters, dance halls and top events throughout Great Britain, Europe, the U.S. and beyond — over 30 countries in all.  They are the official band of the London Season and they have made hundreds of television and radio appearances including recently a residency on BBC Radio London and appearances on “Louis Spence’s Showbusiness,” “Come Dine With Me” and “Good Morning Los Angeles.”

In 2012, The Jive Aces were semifinalists on the hit television show, “Britain’s Got Talent,” performing show-stopping versions of Jungle Book favorites “I Wanna Be Like You” and “Bare Necessities.” The performance wowed BGT judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.

Their music video, “Bring me Sunshine” has become a viral hit with nearly 2 million views on YouTube and has received seven film festival awards, including the prestigious “Silver Telly Award.”

Tickets to the Celebrity Concert Series can be purchased online, in person or by telephone from the Dixie State University Ticket Office. The office is located inside the Cox Performing Arts Center at 385 South 700 East in St. George.
