Days of ’47 comes to Southern Utah; STGnews LIVE coverage

WASHINGTON CITY – St. George News, in partnership with Southern Utah LIVE Television Network and KCSG Television, will broadcast the “Days of ’47 Dixie Parade LIVE” from Washington City Thursday from 9-11 a.m. in celebration of Pioneer Day.

Though Washington City has historically held a Pioneer Day celebration, this is the first year the city will coordinate with Days of ’47 Inc.

We hope to provide a true pioneer feel to all the events scheduled this summer,” Rick Nielson, president of Days of ’47 Dixie, said.

Southern Utah LIVE television personality Carson Stilson (“Zion Home”) will host the parade broadcast, along with guests of the producer. Members of the community are invited visit the broadcast booth during parade coverage for a chance to share pioneer stories on live local television.

The parade will begin at 300 North 300 East and travel south to Telegraph Street, west to 100 West, and north to 100 North. The television broadcast booth will be located at 100 East and Telegraph Street.

The Days of ’47 Dixie Parade LIVE will air on KCSG-TV and can be seen statewide on DirecTV channel 44, Dish Network channel 37, Baja Broadband channel 6, Reliance Connects channel 6 and Comcast channel 116; the event will additionally stream live on the Internet at southernutahLIVE.com and stgnews.com. The two-hour broadcast will include a recap of the 7 a.m. flag-raising ceremony and coverage of activities taking place at the Willard O. Nisson Park following the parade. The event will be rebroadcast Saturday, July 26, at 9 a.m. and Sunday, July 27, at 6 p.m.

After a successful first joint broadcast venture with “Meet the Candidates LIVE” in June, the three entities – St. George News, Southern Utah LIVE and KCSG Television – again collaborate in bringing live television event coverage to Southern Utah viewers.

We are very excited to bring this kind of live television coverage to our community,” John Anderson, Southern Utah LIVE CEO, said. “Our ability to combine professional television production and Internet technology allows us to offer opportunities for all members of the community to participate in exciting and important civic events either by television or by streaming live on a computer, tablet or smartphone.”

The Southern Utah LIVE Television Network represents a partnership between the Community Education Channel CEC, Dixie State University DSU and VODDOV Inc.
