Geraldine (Gerry) Hall DeMille

DeMille, Geraldine(May 4, 1929 – April 28, 2014)

An angel, Geraldine (Gerry) Hall DeMille, 84, was received by the Heavenly Father on Monday, April 28, 2014. She was born on May 4, 1929 in Delta, Utah to Gerald Adair and Addie Thornton Hall.  She was married to Stanley Dennett DeMille in Cedar City on December 5, 1947, and later the marriage was sealed.

Gerry is survived by three loving sons and daughters-in-law Stanley Dennis (Julie), Mesquite, Texas; Steven Riccard (Rhonda), Bangkok, Thailand; and Danton (Ginger), Alexandria, Virginia; a brother Robert (JoNeal) Hall, Phoenix, Arizona, a sister Jennie Gay Hall Stokes, Lake Stevens, Washington, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Garth Hall, Beverly Hall, and Judy (Paul) Holyoak all from Cedar City, Utah.

Gerry was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the Relief Society President in Denver, Colorado. She was a dedicated volunteer at the St. George LDS Temple, served as a loyal member of the church choir, and pursued her life-long passion of documenting the Hall and DeMille genealogical history as one of the first families to settle Southern Utah and Zion National Park.

Gerry enjoyed listening to classical music and the hymns of the church.  She studied music in early childhood, and at Cedar City High School she played the french horn in the orchestra and the trumpet in the band.  She loved culture, tennis and the red mountains of St. George.  She loved to take visiting family to the theater at the Tuachan Center for the Arts, on walks along the dinosaur tracks at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site and her annual family vacation at the Green Valley Resort and Spa in St. George. But her greatest joy was being a Homemaker and raising her three sons in California, New Mexico and Colorado.

The family would especially like to thank her long time friends at The Meadows Independent and Assisted Living, especially best friend, Evelyn Ramsey, and Merv Nugent and Dena Thurgood at Rosecrest Temple View.  We also thank the staff at the Dixie Dialysis Center who always took great care of Gerry and made her smile.
