WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Chris Stewart issued the following statement after President Obama gave his 2014 State of the Union Address:
President Obama missed an opportunity tonight. Instead of setting a tone of legislative bipartisanship in 2014, he chose to outline an aggressive political agenda full of unilateral executive actions. This goes against his constitutional authority and isn’t a recipe for creating trust and good will in Congress.
While the president is right that we need to get our economy back on track, he’s absolutely wrong that the federal government is the solution. The key to growing the economy and fighting poverty isn’t more federal programs; it’s getting the federal government out of the way and empowering individuals.
America is still the greatest country in the world, but we are in a fight for the very heart and soul of our nation. The decisions we make over the next several years will determine our future. My hope for this year is that we grow the economy, expand opportunity, continue to maintain a strong national defense and begin to significantly reduce our debt.

I have the feeling that this was written before the speech was even delivered. Mike Lee’s response was better.
“The key to growing the economy and fighting poverty isn’t more federal programs; it’s getting the federal government out of the way and empowering individuals.”
Does this guy do anything useful at all? Can anyone here give a good reason of why they voted for him?
If only Congressman Stewart had the guts to start a Congressional Investigation on Barry’s phony credentials and Birth Certificate that has been proven by experts to be a FRAUD. All of Barry”s many scandals and no investigation and Holder is not in prison yet. Unbelievable.
One of these days Freddie, your AM radio is going to break and you’ll be left adrift. You won’t be able to come up with a single thought or opinion.
“My hope for this year is that we grow the economy, expand opportunity, continue to maintain a strong national defense and begin to significantly reduce our debt.”
Unfortunately Mr. Stewart’s idea of “strong national defense” – unlimited spending with absolutely no consideration given to need or effectiveness – is an insurmountable obstacle to repairing our economic problems, in particular any attempt whatsoever to reduce the debt. Continuing to worship wastefulness in the name of ‘defense’ will prevent us from ever resolving our economic imbalance.
Mr. Bender
I can tell you read the book “Rules for Radicals” by Alinsky.
Rule 1: Use humor to ridicule an opponent instead of fighting back with facts.
I get a “Mr” from you but the POTUS gets a “Barry”?
