MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – A car rolled on Interstate 15 near the Nevada-Arizona border Friday that impacted northbound traffic.
Arizona Highway Patrol Officer Thomas Callister said a vehicle traveling southbound on I-15 rolled off the roadway and came to a stop in one of the interstate’s northbound lanes near milepost 1.2.
An 11-year-old boy was ejected from the car while a woman, identified as the boy’s mother, remained in the vehicle.
The mother was in critical condition and was airlifted by medical helicopter to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The boy left the scene in stable condition and was taken to Mesa View Hospital in Mesquite, Nev.
Callister said the reason for the accident may never wholly be known, but it is suspected that speed and inattention were contributing factors.
The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. and blocked both northbound lanes of I-15 until around 2:30 p.m.
