MESQUITE – After months of preparation, the Mesquite Off-Road Weekend is underway with Tanner Godfrey landing his world record jump Friday night. Shattering the 47-foot record with a huge 105-foot jump, Tanner Godfrey had the crowd roaring with excitement. And if that wasn’t enough, he did it twice.

Shortly before his son’s big jump Gregg Godfrey, creator of Nitro Circus said, “You guys have seen nitro circus; it’s either epic good or epic bad.”

And epic good it was! After his accident in this same city left him paralyzed five years ago, Tanner Godfrey returned to stare fear in the face. And he executed his jump flawlessly. Not only did the jump excite the crowd, but it got the other Nitro Circus members excited as well. The energy builds off each athlete, and each event gets better and better as they try bigger jumps, riskier tricks, and more daring stunts.

“Tomorrow is an action-packed day full of racing,” Nitro Circus announcer Laurette Nicoll said. “You will be so happy you came here. We have some of the top pros in the series out here, it going to be an amazing day.”

It’s not too late to purchase tickets, and attend Saturday’s events. Vendors, the Redneck Rodeo, and other activities are scheduled to get the day going Saturday, and are all building up to the main events. The Enduro race, laid out across 100 acres of Nevada desert is promised to be action-packed as riders from all different backgrounds come to one place to battle for thousands of dollars in prize money.

Finally, the Nitro Circus “Beyond Pro” event is sure to be full of surprises as athletes wow the crowd with news tricks, and daring stunts that border on insane.

Organizers of the event expect an even bigger crowd Saturday after a great turnout Friday evening.

“More than anything I’m excited there were so many people here,” Gregg Godfrey said. “You wonder when you do this stuff if people are going to come show up, and here is this massive crowd supporting us.”
