ST. GEORGE – SCORE small business mentors, in partnership with the Small Business Development Center, have introduced a new business planning workshop to aid start-up entrepreneurs.
The workshop, titled “Simple Steps for Starting Your Business,” helps entrepreneurs test a small business idea and begin planning a start-up. Included is a free “Start-Up Basics” workshop focused on business concept development and the nuts-and-bolts of launching a new business. Participants will go through exercises to help plan for business success and receive a complementary “How to Start a Business in Southern Utah” guide. Free and confidential mentoring sessions are also offered as a follow-up to the workshop.
“The workshop will help entrepreneurs understand the crucial components of starting a business,” said Jim Roberts, SCORE Southern Utah chapter representative. “Helping small business owners test their ideas and complete some initial planning for their start-up is essential to achieving success.”
The first workshop will be held Jan. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Dixie Business Alliance building. Following workshops will be held the first Monday of each month. For more information or to register, contact Southern Utah SCORE at 435-652-7791, 435-652-7741 or [email protected].

Where is the line between freelancing and being a small business owner (Web Development, SEO/SEM, Social Marketing, etc…)?
Are they one in the same, just different flavors?
How about from a legal perspective?
Sounds like a good conference to attend!
Freelancing and owning your own business are the same thing. The workshop on Jan 7th would be a great place to start to move forward. Following that, face to face mentoring with experienced and successful SCORE mentors may be a good step
Please let us know if you’d like to attend (it is free and confidential):
