COMMENTARY – The Utah Jazz are headed to the playoffs after beating the Phoenix Suns 100-88 last night at Energy Solutions Arena.

The Jazz “big line up” helped the Jazz dominate the paint! The Jazz’s bigs scored a combined 57 points, 42 rebounds and 8 blocks. The “big line up” consists of Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, and Derrick Favors along with any two guards.

Jefferson had to leave the game early in the third quarter because he was cut over his eye that required stitches.

Jefferson returned on fire, scoring eight straight points late in the fourth quarter.

All three of the Jazz “big three” had double-doubles. Millsap led the way for the Jazz scoring a game high 26 points and pulling in 15 rebounds. Jefferson added 18 points and a game high 16 rebounds, while Favors added 13 points 11 rebounds and five blocks.

The Jazz backcourt also played great in the game led by Devin Harris who scored 14 points, while Gordon Hayward scored 11 points while dishing out a career high eight assists.

Josh Howard scored four points in his return for knee surgery. Howard only played six minutes and did not play in the second half.

The win also stopped the Jazz seven-game losing streak against the Suns. The losing streak started in 2010.

Another team that is very happy is Minnesota. Minnesota gets the Jazz first round draft pick from the Jefferson trade.

The Jazz will take on San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Jazz will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday in the last regular season game of the year.
