Analysis: The Jazz, win and they’re in

Utah Jazz

Sports Commentator Patrick Blake is host of the Blake’s Take show, airing weekdays from 5-6 p.m. on KZNU Sports Radio Southern Utah Sports Network – 93.1 FM 1450 AM – with live stream online at http://www.KZNUsports.com.

COMMENTARY – The Utah Jazz host the Phoenix Suns tonight at Energy Solutions Arena in a must-win game for both teams.

If the Jazz win they are in the playoffs and can rest on Thursday night, the final night of the season. If they lose, they are not eliminated from playoff contention but would need the Suns to lose their final game of the season.

The Suns, on the other hand, must win to stay alive and then need to win again tomorrow night against San Antonio.

The Jazz play Portland on Thursday for their final game while the Suns play San Antonio tomorrow.

Whoever gets in the playoffs as the eighth seed will play San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs.

Al Jefferson was named Western Conference Player of the Week for last week’s efforts. Jefferson had three double-doubles in three games last week.

Raja Bell and Josh Howard will both be active for tonight’s game against the Suns. Both players have been out since early March. Earl Watson and C.J. Miles will be out for the rest of the season.

Looking ahead

The Jazz will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday in the last regular season game of the year.
