Washington City man arrested at Walmart Pharmacy in Hurricane

HURRICANE –  A Washington City man, 27, was arrested by Hurricane Police Department at 10:57 a.m. today at the Hurricane Walmart Supercenter.

The man was booked on three third degree felony offenses related to identity fraud and fraudulent identities used to obtain prescriptions.

Walmart’s Hurricane store management deferred comment on the matter to its national media response office.  Kayla Whaling, Spokeswoman for Walmart, then said that Walmart relies upon close relationship with local law enforcement and does not speak to particular incidents of this nature.  Whaling was unwilling to give guidelines that Walmart’s pharmacy personnel follow to ascertain a person possibly using false identification to obtain pharmaceuticals, essentially because doing so could help others that want to do the same find ways to pass false identification undiscovered.

Persons arrested are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
