Ivins No Kill Animal Shelter’s Hike for Hounds at Red Mountain Resort

IVINS – Ivins No Kill Animal Shelter, familiarly known as INKAS, will hold a fundraising “Hike for Hounds” on Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $15 for hiking participants, who will receive both a tee shirt representative of the event and a picnic lunch.

Everyone’s own dogs are welcome at no cost; but those interested in hiking with a “pound puppy” may do so for a $50 donation and for those who do so and decide to adopt, the normal adoption fee will be waived.

“Red Mountain Resort sees the smiles and joy in our guests who hike with the Ivins Shelter dogs and wanted to find a way to give back to the shelter,” said Tracey Welsh, Red Mountain General Manager and INKAS member. “We created the Hike for Hounds so the dog lovers in our community, who love to get out with their dogs, could have a healthy and fun day in the red rocks and help support this great organization.”

Human registration begins at 10 a.m. and the hike sets out at 10:30 a.m.

Entertainment, food and educational booths will also open at 10 a.m. Some of those included are pet massage, chair massages for humans, funny pet “psychic,” animal care and education booths, as well as a silent auction with art, pet supplies, spa gift certificates and more.

The event will be held at Red Mountain Resort, 202 N. Snow Canyon Drive, in Ivins (just outside Snow Canyon State Park).  The Hike for Hounds begins and ends there with both a one-mile and two-mile option.

People attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to use for the picnic lunch.

This event promises a fun way to get exercise with your dog, to join others in the community and support homeless pets in Ivins.

All proceeds go to INKAS.
