The Desert Hills Thunder and Moapa Valley Pirates are both coming into week two of the football season feeling good about their first game.
The Thunder lost 14-12 to one of the best 5A teams in the state. Quarterback Porter Harris, who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns, both to Ty Rutledge who had 99 receiving yards, led the Thunder.
The Thunder defense did an outstanding job holding Syracuse to 14 points and only 80 yards rushing.
The Pirates from Moapa Valley are being called a Top 10 team in Nevada, and are coming into tonight’s ball game 1-0 after pulling off a huge upset over Show Low High School in Arizona. The game was played at University of Phoenix Stadium, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
The Thunder needs to roll into week two like they did in week one to get their first win of the year.
