ST. GEORGE – On the evening of March 30, 2011 St. George Police Department Patrol Officers stopped a vehicle on I-15 Northbound at approximately mile marker 4 for a traffic violation. The vehicle allegedly failed to signal prior to making a lane change. The driver was identified as 26 year old Shaun Newton who had a suspended driver’s license.

Officers detected the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a distributable quantity of marijuana. Additionally, mushrooms, prescription medications, and drug paraphernalia were located. 29 year old Paul Werner was identified as a passenger in the vehicle after he had provided false personal information, his brother’s, to police officers regarding his true identity and he had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Shaun was arrested and booked into jail for distribution of marijuana, distribution of a Schedule IV drug, possession of a schedule II drug, possession of a schedule IV drug, unlawful container for prescription medication, possession of mushrooms, possession of paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, and failure to signal. His bond was set at approximately $21,000.

Paul was arrested for False information of another to police, the two warrants, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and two counts of possession of a schedule IV drug. His bond was set at approximately $5,000.
