ST. GEORGE – Entries are still being accepted for the “What I Love About Dixie” contest. Two grand prize winners will win a seat on board the first flight out of the new replacement airport in St. George on Jan. 12.

Marc Mortensen, assistant to the city manager, said the winners will be announced at the Twilight to Midnight New Year’s Eve event at 9:30 p.m.  The winners will join dignitaries on the brief flight on a 50-passenger jet that will take off and land in St. George.

Mortensen said the idea came about when a Dixie State College student approached the city with a website called What I Love About Dixie that he had created for a school project. He wanted people to be able to show their Dixie spirit by posting on the site. The city got behind the idea and offered the two seats on the jet, he said.

Entries for the contest must be submitted to the site, www.whatiloveaboutdixie.com, by Dec. 23. Contest rules and more information can be found on the website.
