Snow Canyon Warriors surprise previously undefeated Cedar City

CEDAR CITY – It took double overtime, but the Snow Canyon Warriors beat the undefeated Cedar Redman 24-21 at Cedar City, Friday, September 25.


The Redman came out at the beginning of the game and in the first three plays, put 7 points on the board. It went back and forth with no one else scoring the remainder of the of the first half. Half way through the third quarter, Cedar put another 7 on the board, making the score 14-0. Snow Canyon got busy and started breaking down the Redman defense with both the run and the pass. The Warriors had to go until there was 10:33 left in the fourth quarter before they could get a touch down and an extra point in the books. 

Brayden Linde, quarterback for the Warriors, ran in for a touchdown and the extra point was scored with 8 minutes left in the fourth quarter to tie the game 14-14.

In the first overtime, Snow Canyon lost the toss and had the ball first. The Warriors scored and kicked the extra point, putting them up 21-14, but Cedar got their chance to score. After six downs, Cedar squeaked into the end with a run around the outside. At the end of the first overtime it was 21-21.

The Redman then got the ball first to begin the second overtime. After being shut down in four downs, Snow Canyon had four downs to try their luck. 

Snow Canyon, in three downs, was able to put their kicker, Jose Benavides, close enough to kick a 30-yard field goal and clintch the win 24-21 over the Cedar Redman.
